Academy Awards Confirms It Will Go Hostless

Following multiple reports surrounding Kevin Hart and his anti-LGBTQ tweets, the Academy Awards have confirmed it will go hostless for the first time in 30 years.

Hart stepped down in early December, and since then the Oscars have been scrabbling to find his replacement. According to Variety, producers behind the awards will gather a group of A-listers who will present the coveted trophy as well as appear in various segments throughout the night. Another source has added the show will rely heavily on music, which is fitting considering the success of A Star Is Born and Bohemian Rhapsody. The last time the Academy Awards went hostless was back in 1989 for the 61st Oscars.

The Oscar nominations are set to be revealed on January 22, with the 91st annual Academy Awards telecast scheduled for Sunday, February 24 live from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
