The Murders of Tupac & The Notorious B.I.G. Official Trailer | Unsolved on USA Network
Two new television specials airing this month focus on the murders of Tupac Shakur and Christopher "The Notorious" B.I.G. Wallace. BET is airing a special called "The Death Row Chronicles," while USA Network has a 10-part true crime drama titled "Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G."
Tupac Shakur was gunned down in September of 1996 in Las Vegas, while the Notorious BIG was killed six months later in March of 1997 in Los Angeles. USA's "Unsolved" is based on former Los Angeles police Detective Greg Kading's book "Murder Rap: The Untold Story of Biggie Smalls & Tupac Shakur Murder Investigations by Greg Kading."
Detective Kading hosted an AMA on Reddit, where he revealed some of his opinions about the unsolved murders. He was adamant his investigation revealed the killers of both Tupac Shakur and the Notorious BIG.
Detective Kading fingered Orlando Anderson as the trigger man behind Tupac's murder, after receiving a confession from Anderson's uncle and well-known Crip gang banger, Duane Keith “Keffe D” Davis.
Detective Kading agreed the genesis of the bad blood between the rappers started when Tupac was shot at the Quad Studios in New York in November of 1994.
A man named Dexter Isaac, who was allegedly hired by imprisoned rap manager James "Jimmy Henchman" Rosemond, admitted to shooting Tupac, as Biggie, Diddy, Shawn Pen and other New York rappers were present in the recording studio.
Two years later both Pac and B.I.G. would be dead, in high profile murders with dozens of witnesses. "Biggie was absolutely retaliation for Tupac's murder, so the murders are definitely linked. Big had nothing to do with any of it outside of the war of words with Tupac," Detective Kading said. Unfortunately, Detective Kading said there will never be any charges brought against anyone for the murders.
According to that Detective Kading, most of the key players are dead, and in Suge Knight's case, he is already facing life in prison for another murder. As for Sean "Diddy" Combs, he has gone on to be the most successful businessman in the entire entertainment industry.
"Puffy has made very good use of his lawyers over the years to insulate him from interrogation," Detective Kading said.
"The Death Row Chronicles" premiered on February 20th on BET.
USA Network's "Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G." debuts on February 27th.
